Drinking water supply

The water industry will have to make great efforts to maintain an adequate water supply in future. Consumption of drinking water will increase, while water tables continue fall and environmental pollution spreads. WWE sustainable solutions search for creative ways to meed this need. Drawing on expertise from many disciplines, we find alternative sources to groundwater, such as treatment of surface water, polishing of WWTP effluent and watersoftening plants.

Wastewater treatment

Each year households and industry produce billions of litres of wastewater. This must be treated according to the strictest environmental standards. WWE sustainable solutions are concentrated on the treatment of sewage and industrial effluents. Depending on the situation, we employ physical, chemical or biological techniques, including anaerobic processes and biological nutrient recovery and membrane technologies. Our experience with related technologies such as biogas utilization, sludge treatment and odour control, enables us to offer our clients total solutions.water_basin

Leachate water from landfills

The leachate from sanitary landfills is highly polluted, containing organic compounds, nitrogen and heavy metals. WWE can deliver aerobic treatment processes for removal of these compounds, which makes it acceptable to discharge these effluents into public sewer systems. Leachate containing high concentrations of ammonia can be discharged into surface waters after biological or reverse osmosis system treatment.

Membrane bioreactor

Membrane bioreactors are a successful technology for the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater. MBR-technology is applied at locations where space is lacking, a high effluent quality is required and closing the water cycle is of interest. State-of-art disinfection Technology (UV-disinfection)

Together with our partner, WWE has developed and implemented the use of UV disinfection to replace traditionally used Chlorine to comply with strict EU requirements.uv
